Advises on domestic and regional tax minimization; financing, structuring and restructuring joint ventures; reorganizations, M&A; major projects and privatizations; VAT and other indirect taxes; transfer pricing; and local level taxes. Also advises on corporate tax planning (domestic and international), tax treaties, foreign investment and exchange control regulations, debt-equity transactions and related corporate matters. Represents clients in tax controversies. Works closely with correspondent offices in regional projects involving other Latin American jurisdictions. Has ample experience working in various corporate and project finance projects, working closely with investment banking firms, on tax structuring and other legal related matters of these projects.

Latin America tax planning sub-practice of Baker & McKenzie in Chicago, IL (2002-2004); Tax Division of Arthur Andersen Colombia (1993-1995). LL.M degree in International Taxation from NYU School of Law (USA, 2002); LL.M degree in Colombian Taxation from Rosario University School of Law academic excellence alumni award (Colombia, 1995); J.D. degree from Los Andes University School of Law (Colombia, 1994). Member of: Colombian Institute of Tax Law (since 1995); the Associations of the Bar of the Cities of New York (since 2003) and Chicago (2003-2004), and the state of New York (2003-2004). Authored many specialized articles in Colombian and Latin American taxation, and participated in many tax conferences in the US and other jurisdictions.
